Sigrid Schauman - Art as an Expression of Emotions
The exhibition Sigrid Schauman – Art as an Expression of Emotions examined Sigrid Schauman’s conception of art as it appears in her paintings and art reviews. The exhibition comprised around forty of her colour- and light-oriented landscapes, sensitive nude studies and self-portraits alongside excerpts from Schauman’s reviews of works by modernists. Schauman was also open to international influences, and both her art and reviews promoted the introduction of post-impressionism and modernism in Finland.
Schauman strove to capture beauty that reflected the spiritual and often expressed her view that art is the visual embodiment of emotions.
